Apple has a Mac problem, and it’s their own fault | Newstalk

I agree with this sentiment whole-heartedly. Speaking as someone using a late-2013 MacBook pro and an early-2008 Mac Pro on my desktop, it greatly saddens me to see what Apple has done to themselves of late:

  • The latest series of the MacBooks is the first that didn’t didn’t earn a recommendation from Consumer Reports
  • The top-end 15″ MacBook pro that was launched this fall ranges in price between $2500 and $3500 and is effectively useless for the professional photographers who have been Apple’s bread and butter for years. Only the cheapest model has any non USB-C ports and none sport an SD card slot.

I certainly have no intention of replacing either of my Macs for the foreseeable future and price is only part of that decision. This bloody-minded obsession with making the thinnest laptop is doing serious damage to the brand

The tech giant is paying less and less attention to its anchor lineup of computers
